Tool Setting

The benefits of non-contact laser tool sensing are:

  1. BulletFaster tool setting cycles – tools can be moved into the laser beam at high speed without risk of damage.

  2. BulletTools are measured at normal spindle speeds, accounting for run-out and taper ‘pull-up’.

  3. BulletVery small, delicate tools can be measured without wear or damage.

  4. BulletTool breakage can be checked at very high feed rates, increasing confidence in unmanned machining whilst minimizing cycle time.

  5. BulletEach facet of multi-tip tool can be checked for damage.

  1. BulletThe standard tool setting probe for machining centers

  2. BulletCompact table mounting

  3. BulletPrecise tool length and diameter measurement

  4. BulletRotating tools can be checked without wear to the tool or stylus

  5. BulletStylus is protected by a weak link, preventing probe damage in the event of a collision

About TS27R/ OTS

(Optical Tool Setter)

TS27R/ OTS is mounted on the machine table.  It enables the user to set tool length and diameter of rotating tools, and to carry out broken tool detection.

As with all Renishaw hard-wired probe systems, TS27R/ OTS requires the MI8 interface to convert probe signals into an acceptable form for the CNC machine control.
